The 3rd Chapter sees our protagonist, Kha-ell reaching the end of a victim phase on the journey to "SELF CONTROL". He realizes by putting most of his attention on what others are doing wrong, he's been wasting his own agency to make things better. Shocked, but "woke", he finally understands that he's betrayed his own growth more than anyone else. This audio-storybook album semi-autobiographically describes the struggles creative people have gone through, to align with their true purpose. Remastered and released March 24, 2018
This is Self Suffice's 1st solo album since recording the critically acclaimed "Manhattan Night" CD with Dreamville's Mez. Also available at
Where I'm at a lot of things ain't right/
Why they keep promotin' idiotic rapper on the mic/
And they give so much attention
to the things they don't like/
like I'm doin' right now,
That ain't hypicritical, right?/
Look, I don't even smoke,
why would I give you the Light?/
Hard to fall asleep, stayin' up,
way into the night/
I could try takin' a stand/ OR makin' a demand/
Y'all people let me be, but/ let me be what?/
Hard ta see what I am/ in the midst of these/
incompetent creeps underestimatin' my abilities/
I mean seriously!?/
They far from the best and they dissin' me?/
Some of y'all be in the wrong professions/
You put a dolphin in a tree, angry it can't climb/
or put a hawk in the sea, notice it's not flyin/
Really wantin' my light to shine,
got it within me see/
If I could be focused on my own responsibilities,
but when they give a request/
I've got to give them a yes/
It's difficult sayin' no,
that's how I get in this mess!
Not knowin'/ if I'm in a job or in my zone,
or is it just a hobby that won't last too far/
Keep on playin' yourself,
the way you act, betrayin' yourself,
but do You even know that You are?
Not knowin'/ if we in a job or in our zone,
or is it just a hobby that won't last too far/
Keep on playin ourselves
the way we act, betrayin' ourselves,
but do We even know that We are?
When Your boys do the thing,
people don't even care/
but whenever I DO IT, they always seem to stare/
When Your boys drop the ball,
people think it's funny/
but if I drop the ball they all lose money/
I betrayed them see/ can't blame it on the MAN,
cause the MAN's who I AM/ or I claim to be.
I betrayed them see/ can't blame it on the MAN,
cause the MAN's who I AM/ or I claim to
be... traying WHAT you are,
not knowin' that you are/
over the edge and not sayin'
that's too far/ from WHAT you are,
not knowin' that you are/
over the edge and not knowin' the difference
between jus' goin'/ to another
job or in my zone,
or is it just a hobby that won't last too far/
Keep on playin' yourself,
the way you act, betrayin' yourself,
but do You even know that You are?
Not knowin'/ if we in a job or in our zone,
or is it just a hobby that won't last too far/
Keep on playin ourselves
the way we act, betrayin' ourselves,
but do We even know that We are?
