The 8th Chapter sees our protagonist, Kha-elL realizing that success comes from effort, not entitlement. Having put so much of his attention on the flaws of others, he now works twice as hard to recognize his own. The journey to “SELF CONTROL” isn’t just about forming better habits, but also eliminating dysfunctional ones... which requires more patience and humility than he’s ever shown.
This is Self Suffice's 1st solo album since recording the critically acclaimed "Manhattan Night" CD with Dreamville's Mez. Also available at
Thinkin’ it's outta my hands how I'm always late but wait,
maybe dis ain't / an unavoidable fate / cause a hour before I left
from that previous spot / noticed dat time on my clock,
but ain't leave it n stop / nah a fortune teller I'm not,
But obviously got a clue son / was only late, cause
I ain't stop what I was doin' / back inna day. I was losin'
doubtin 'n confusin’ / myself / witout a clue on
how to get ta da wealth / but now I do ummm
maddafact more then 1 or 2 / a few hundred clues
all come back down to a review / of da routine
that you normally use / dat seem to always leave you
witout’ any time for wha’s important to you
awkward dat you / cannot afford, things you wantin'a do
are you fool? / look how ya resources get used
unhuh I'm talkin to / myself - nobody else could get it in,
ya head. Switchin' routine calls for self-discipline
da friends givin' mo money time 'n permission,
can't give you back minutes spent
on wrong decisions, wishin that more was given
more gifts delivered buh' when,
we get em, why we don' account fa
what we did wit 'em? well (20)
since no accountant could make
ma brain different,
I'm accountin' fa' mistakes
I make 'n 'en fixin' em (22)
gettin it in -
witnessin' da stakes raise 'n
askin' how I'm back in 'is dangerous situation
amazin' why dis keep happenin men?
but change da habit'n,
you change what you have in the end
trapped in 'a pattern a
trapped in 'a pattern again }2
this is amazin' why dis keep happenin men?
but change da habit'n,
you change what you have in the end
feelin' sad fa some a my friends what happen a dem
'n I could see I got da SAME thought patterns as 'em
if I don't change my actions, my bad habits' ll end-up
killin' my dreams - aaagh! - I wanna actually win!
every champion had a path where dey actually went,
paid attention na how dey energy was actually spent
dey sayin' ignorance is bliss -
well if you knew betta, but
you didn't do betta, is it happiness then? (8)
I'm sayin "no" to a lot a things, that could offend,
but I ain' ready fa dem anyway, dat was pretend,
it's hard fa me to celebrate when, in truf I was wastin'
da gifts I was givin', jus didn' appreciate 'em
from now on I'm takin alot offa my plate when,
I get it in I need a time, date, 'n duration,
I need a know da payment, da cost, 'n location
arrangin' my calendars, goals, 'n bank statements (16)
until I'm paid like a doctor, I stay patient,
re-organize the way my day spent...
to keep from lapsin' again
cause what we stand for, when we ON da path,
lead to what we have in'na END
gettin it in -
witnessin' da stakes raise 'n
askin' how I'm back in 'is dangerous situation
amazin' why dis keep happenin men?
but change da habit'n,
you change what you have in the end
trapped in 'a pattern a
trapped in 'a pattern again }2
this is amazin' why dis keep happenin men?
but change da habit'n,
you change what you have in the end
